Cartahaven vs Locus Map

Locus Map is a deep Android outdoor app: worldwide offline maps, voice navigation, sensors and geocaching. Cartahaven is narrower: it opens GeoPDF maps, the PDFs that agencies, parks and publishers make, free and offline on any device, with your GPS position on them. Here is how the two compare.

Locus Map facts are from Asamm Software’s own pages, checked November 1, 2026; numbers in brackets link to the source. Prices are in euros on Locus’s site and change: check there for the latest. Something wrong? Email support@cartahaven.com and we’ll fix it.

Where Locus Map is ahead

  • Turn-by-turn voice navigation from A to B on Android, with spoken off-route prompts[16][22], and an offline router with Gold[2].
  • Worldwide offline vector maps (LoMaps) with offline search[7][1]; Cartahaven’s background maps cover the area around each map you open.
  • Many tile and vector map formats, free[4], plus WMS/WMTS with Premium[1].
  • Bluetooth and ANT+ sensors, geocaching tools, Android Auto and a Wear OS add-on[1].
  • An established Android app with a large user base[20]. Cartahaven’s Android and iPhone apps are on the way.

Using both

Use Locus Map for routing on Android, and open the GeoPDFs it can’t read (MVUMs, park maps, unit maps, a publisher’s map) in Cartahaven, free and offline. Tracks move between them as GPX or KML.
